NY_Image_Tutorial.mp4

In this video we will be using a reset USB with the NY image on it and setting up a Securebook with a brand new image.

USB Image Flashing:

You will need a docking station with USB ports and a reset USB.

If necessary, image a device:

  1. If necessary, backup student home folder to a USB drive before imaging computers

  2. Dock the laptop (powered off) with a reset USB plugged into the docking station

  3. Boot the computer, at the American Megatrends BIOS screen press Fn + F12 key repeatedly. You should be asked to enter a password. Enter the BIOS password.

  4. Boot to the UEFI USB Drive. After that the process is pretty automatic but takes about 30 minutes.

In this video we change the User Account using the Use Settings Tool.

In this video we change the User Account using a USB and the Script provided by World Possible.

Editing Existing User Accounts:

There are two different processes for Editing Existing User Accounts. Both will be covered in this guide.

Editing Using Settings

  1. Log into jadmin account.

  2. Select the User Icon in the very bottom right of the screen, this brings up a menu.

  3. Select the icon from the top of the menu, this will take you to User Settings.

  4. Select the Unlock button in the top right.

  5. Enter the jadmin password.

  6. Select the user account you wish to edit. You can edit the name, the password, and even if they have admin credentials.

  7. Make the necessary edits to the account.

  8. Now close the User Settings menu.

  9. The user account has now been successfully edited using the User Settings Tool!

Editing Using Script

For this process you will need a USB drive with the changeUser.sh script on it, and the black USB Docking Station. You will also need to know the names of the user account being renamed, what name it is being renamed to, and the new password.

  1. Before booting the Securebook, plug it into the Black USB Docking Station.

  2. Now Power On the Securebook.

  3. Log into the jadmin account.

  4. Plug in the USB with the changeUser.sh script on it.

  5. Select the Documents button on the taskbar in the bottom left of the screen.

  6. Navigate to the USB drive you have plugged in.

  7. Copy the changeUser.sh file to the Home directory (which you can access by selecting Home on the left side of the Menu).

  8. Close the Documents.

  9. Type "Terminal" into the Universal Search Bar at the top of the Screen.

  10. Select the Terminal Application.

  11. Type into the Terminal the follow command: sudo bash changeUser.sh

  12. Hit enter to execute the command.

  13. Follow the text prompts from the script using the information gathered before starting.

  14. When the script completes it should tell you that the account has been successfully changed.

  15. Close the terminal and you are done!

Creating new User Accounts:

For this process you will need a USB drive with the createUser.sh script on it, and the black USB Docking Station. You will also need to know the name of the user the account is for, and the new password, and whether or not they should have admin credentials.
